Anu Omideyi's broad practice spans all areas of criminal law. She typically acts for the defence in cases ranging from violent crime and serious sexual offences, including rape and child pornography, to the import and supply of drugs, money laundering and fraud.
Anu's experience also encompasses conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to commit perjury, trading standards issues (for example under the Explosives Act 1875 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974), trade mark offences, arson with intent to endanger life, firearms offences, robberies and armed robberies, burglaries and aggravated burglaries, GBH/woundings with intent and other crimes.
Of Anu's advocacy, the Court of Appeal said during the course of judgment in R v Amayo (in which she appeared alone opposite leading and junior counsel) that “…We can only say that the merits of this appeal were ably disguised by the skill and fortitude of counsel on behalf of this appellant. The clarity with which she argued this case and the force with which she pursued it were wholly effective in disguising the fact that this was plainly a case which the jury had to decide and with which the jury had no difficulty. The appellant was fortunate in having counsel appearing for her today arguing the case in the manner she did…”.
Anu is frequently briefed alone as well as appearing as junior counsel.
